On 20th November 2024, the Australia-UK Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with National Australia Bank, hosted the ‘Critical Minerals - A Panel Discussion with Industry Leaders’ at Australia House.

The event brought together industry leaders to discuss the vital role of critical minerals in advancing clean energy technologies.

Opening remarks were delivered by the Hon. Stephen Smith, Australian High Commissioner to the UK, and David Camerlengo from Austrade.

Moderated by Helen Beatty, Partner at Herbert Smith Freehills, the panel included:

  • Jeff Townsend, Founder and CEO, Critical Minerals Association in Australia and the UK.

  • Nick Woolfitt, Head of Specialised Finance Europe, National Australia Bank.

  • Darryn Quayle, Vice President, Resources, Worley.

The insightful discussions underscored the pivotal role critical minerals play in driving the global transition to clean energy and decarbonisation, highlighting the importance of cross-border collaboration to secure resilient supply chains.
