Walking down the Strand to our offices this past week, underneath the freshly installed Christmas decorations, I can’t believe the holiday season is already here! As always, the Chamber has had an incredibly busy Autumn filled with a variety of events to engage and interest all of our Members. From FinTech to Sport, Infrastructure and Making the Move back to Australia or New Zealand – the team and I hope that you have been able to enjoy some of the excellent events we have had over the last couple of months.
These functions have also hopefully given some of you the chance to meet our brilliant new Events Coordinator, Yan Wong. A recent arrival from Brisbane, Yan has joined the Chamber in a permanent capacity to help ensure that our events programme continues as the cornerstone of our Member engagement and thought leadership. I know she is keen to get out and meet with as many of you as possible so please do say hello next time you come along to an event.
We have also been busy following the policy and political announcements on Brexit and continue to advocate for the interests of Australian and UK companies in Britain’s post-Brexit trading arrangements – including through engaging with the European Union where Australia is currently in the process of negotiating a Free Trade Agreement. In fact, I’m off to Brussels today to represent the Chamber at the 2018 EU-Australia Leadership Forum which will engage key businesses and policy makers across Europe and Australia.
I know that December is traditionally a time to catch up with colleagues and friends, and the Chamber hope we will be part of your plans with our last event for the year on 11 December; Inspiring Women Reflect hosted by Ros Kelly in conversation with Her Excellency Janice Charette, High Commissioner to Canada, here at Australia House.
The team and I are looking forward to seeing many of you over the coming weeks, stay tuned for our announcements of some of the exciting things we have planned for 2019!
