Executive Director Message

Hello from our Executive Director
December 2018

As the days get shorter and many of us are lucky enough to take time off to be with family and friends, it can be a great time to reflect back over the last twelve months. Against a backdrop of global change and uncertainty, 2018 has been a hugely successful year for the Chamber as the team and I worked hard to ensure that we remained the leading voice for Australian and British businesses here in the United Kingdom.

This year we have delivered over 30 events across a huge variety of topics from International Women’s Day to Trading Matters to Leadership in Disruption, and hosted events with the Australian Prime Minister, Foreign Minister and Trade Minister alongside the British Investment Minister, as well as some leading corporate voices including Alan Joyce of Qantas and Michael O’Keeffe of Aesop.

2019 promises to be just as exciting as we start the new year with a briefing breakfast with Australia’s new Trade Minister, Senator Simon Birmingham, before celebrating the best of Australia at our Australia Day Gala at the gorgeous Simpsons at The Savoy in support of the Australian Music Foundation.

Before then, the office will be closed as we take a short break from Monday 24 December, reopening on Thursday 3 January.

Whether you are enjoying a sunny festive season in Australia, or hoping for a white Christmas here in the United Kingdom, I would like to thank you all for your support and engagement with the Chamber this year.

We wish you a safe and happy holiday break and look forward to seeing you in 2019!

Best regards,

Elizabeth Ames

Executive Director, Australia-United Kingdom Chamber of Commerce
