Last week the World Health Organisation declared COVID-19 a pandemic. Business and the broader community in the UK, Australia and beyond has been feeling the impact of the spread of COVID-19 as well its secondary effects in relation to travel, business and other disruptions. The Chamber is committed to protecting the wellbeing of our Members, team and community. For this reason, the Chamber will postpone its in-person events programme for March and April effective from this week. If you are registered to attend any specific upcoming events over this time then you should also receive an email from the team advising you of this postponement or shift to a remote format. The Chamber’s priority is to continue providing value and support to our Members over this period of uncertainty. While events are an important part of the Chamber’s programme, we are also focussed on keeping our community connected, informed and heard. Further to this, we will continue to drive networking via introductions across our network, deliver content via digital channels and advocate for strong policy outcomes for our Membership particularly in relation to the bilateral relationship and forthcoming Australia-UK Free Trade Agreement. The Chamber team would be pleased to speak with you on any specific needs or requests you have in relation to the above and to hear what would be most valuable for your business in the coming months. Members we have spoken with in recent weeks have cited business preparedness and continuity during this time as high on their agenda and we are currently planning a roll-out of online webinars and resources to help Members share and gain best practice insights on this. We will continue to monitor developments, follow Government advice to ensure the well being of our team and community and keep you advised on our future events programme and other initiatives. We will be keeping in touch and send our thoughts to all of those who have been affected by these difficult circumstances. Thank you to our Membership and partners for your support and understanding over this time. With our thanks for your support, Catherine Woo CEO, Australia-United Kingdom Chamber of Commerce |
