One of the greatest challenges of our time, Climate Change is often a divisive topic. With shifting attitudes and increased policy being enacted throughout the globe, the world is turning to big business and governments to lead.
Dr. Fiona Wild and Catherine Bremner will explore how businesses are at the heart of the climate change challenge, and the UK Government’s policy direction in the transition to a low-carbon economy.

Fiona Wild, Vice-President, Sustainability and Climate Change, BHP
Fiona has almost 20 years’ experience in multinational oil, gas and resources companies, ranging from frontline operational management to corporate strategic development across a variety of countries and businesses.
She joined BHP in 2010 as Senior Manager, Environment and was appointed to the role of Vice President, Environment and Climate Change in 2013. In these roles, she was accountable for developing and maintaining global performance requirements in water, land and biodiversity and greenhouse gas emissions management.
In 2013, she led a review of BHP’s approach to climate change to deliver an updated company position and strategy. This includes activities in the areas of mitigation, adaptation, portfolio evaluation, stakeholder engagement and low emissions technology. In her role as Vice President, Sustainability and Climate Change, she leads the design and implementation of BHP’s approach to all sustainability-related issues, including climate change, environment, community and social policy. Fiona is a member of the Financial Stability Board’s Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures, reporting to the G20.
Catherine Bremner, Transformation Director & Head of Green Finance, Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy
Catherine has more than 15 years of experience in clean energy, environmental finance, science and engineering. Prior to joining the Civil Service, Catherine was Head of Sustainable Finance Solutions for ANZ globally. Catherine is also on the Advisory Board of Imperial College’s UK Energy Research Council.
Catherine is a graduate of the Australian Companies Institute of Directors (AICD) and Chief Executive Women scholarship beneficiary. She holds a Masters in Environmental Management (MSc) from Oxford University and a Bachelor of Chemical Engineering (BEChem Hons 1st) from the University of Queensland.
